So you screwed up with your wind power kit part 2
Yesterday, we talked about the first mistake most of us make when our wind power kit first arrives–we take all the pieces out of the box and wind up with too much of a mess to actually build the wind turbine!
Mistake #2 is forcing pieces together.
I know, you’re impatient to get that wind kit put together and installed so that your wind turbine can start producing electricity… But, you’ll have to set aside that impatience while you’re building the darn thing if you want it to come together properly.
In my experience with several wind kits, none of them required banging or slamming or forcing–though some did take a bit of patience and rearranging. So, before you start banging something together with a hammer, make sure you’ve got the right pieces in the right places, and apply as little pressure as possible to get the job done.
The reason to avoid banging is that you can easily wind up damaging a piece’s overall shape and with a wind kit, the aerodynamics of each piece are carefully constructed. So, while the pieces aren’t delicate, per se, they do need a certain amount of care in order to protect their shapes.
Go slow, be gentle, and don’t bang on any of the pieces of your wind kit while constructing your residential wind turbine and come back tomorrow for mistake #3!
