Can a wind turbine power a house

So many people wonder, “can a wind turbine power a house?” and I want to share my experiences here with you.

In the two years since I started my wind power journey, I’ve found the answer to that question is absolutely yes! Wonderful news, right? But there are a few caveats.

First, I’ve talked before about the importance of conserving electricity and I think that’s really important. We tend to use electricity without really thinking about it, and that’s wasteful. For me, making my own electricity made a marked difference in how much I valued it–suddenly, it wasn’t just this magical force that powered my lights and the air conditioner–and so I automatically wanted to conserve more.

Something else I think has been an important part of this journey has been that my family has also participated in making electricity. It would have been much harder to do this without the support of my wife and curiosity of my kids.

So, if you’re wondering if a wind turbine can power a house, know that Yes! It absolutely can. And once you’ve set up your whole system, you’ll save money and your home will be greener. It’s great for the environment and it’s great for your pocketbook. What’s more, it can be a fun way to work together as a family while building your family’s self-sufficiency.

(And just how can this happen? Keep reading this site–I’ve posted lots of details!)
