Free info on home wind power kits

Because of high affiliate commissions, it can be hard to find reliable, unbiased information on home wind power kits. That’s why I wound up buying several and giving them a try for myself. If you have the time, I recommend this approach as each kit has pros and cons and even buying several will still keep your costs well under buying a pre-built home wind turbine.

You can find my opinion on if wind power kits are worth it, here. Even though that article was written several months ago, it still completely represents my thoughts on the matter. (Read the article to find out why, but the basics were that I think you can accomplish all that a kit helps you with for a lot less money, if that’s your goal.)

There are times when pre-built kits are a great idea, though–if you’re completely new to the idea of wind power and really have no idea what you’re doing, kits can be a quick and easy introduction. What’s great is that as you’re building, you’ll be learning everything you need to know about your future wind power efforts and you don’t need to know lots of facts and figures before getting started. On the other hand, if you have a mechanical background like I do, you’re likely to find pre-built home wind power kits to be a little too inflexible for your needs. And, you might just wind up spending extra time and money trying to customize the kit.

So, beginners, a kit’s a nice, easy way to get started. People with an intermediate or better understanding of this stuff–get a great book and dive in on your own for the most satisfying green electricity experience.

If you already own the kit and want to make sure you do a great job putting it together and installing your residential wind turbine, check out my series:
