Wind turbines for the home

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the buying residential wind turbines and wanted to make a few suggestions for wind turbines for the home.

Compact windmill
The Sunforce Air X is designed for boats, but what I like about it for residential use is that its compact *and* really durable. Since it’s designed to be used on boats it’s designed to be subjected to severe weather. Plus, since it’s sold on Amazon, shipping is free and it’s easy to return if it doesn’t work for you.

Quiet residential wind turbine
The Sunforce 44447 900W Whisper Wind Turbine is a great price for the power it generates. You’ll also need a tower so that you can install it at the optimum height. It’s well reviewed and with few moving parts it’s less likely to break down. What’s more, it’s designed to be quiet which is a big concern with residential use of windmills. It can be used to charge batteries or to be hooked into your electric meter so the local electric company can buy excess energy from you.
